Patio location

Before you decide anything about your new patio consider its location first. Some of the most common places to put your patio include right off your kitchen or some have even placed the patio, as an outdoor oasis, away from their homes in a more nature and serene setting.

Things to consider

Is there an ideal location off the kitchen or family room?

  • Is there an area in the yard that may offer more shade and or privacy?
  • What location in the yard is most convenient for travel between the home and the patio?
  • Is the location I chose impractical, i.e. (do I have to remove a lot of shrubbery) or is the terrain extremely sloped.
  • Is yard drainage an issue

Wherever you decide the location of your new patio will be your choice and will offer you and your family years of enjoyment in the years to come!

Size of patio

The size of today’s patio is also very different the patio of just a few decades ago. The 10 BY 10 patio is now more atypical then typical these days. It is not surprising to see a typical patio these days to be in excess of 400 square feet (20 feet by 20 feet).

So when sizing up your new patio what should you consider?

  • Is your new patio proportional to your home and yard?
  • Have you allowed room for landscaping around your patio?
  • How much furniture will be on your patio?
